Tap into Resilience, Alignment and Power with The Brain Soul Method

Want to listen to this article instead? Listen to it here: Flourish with the Brain Soul Method

Have you ever had an experience so impactful that it infiltrates your thoughts, affects your body, and resonates with you on a soul level?

It could be a relationship, trauma, a lesson, or a joyful memory that sticks with you forever. In this blog post, I’m going to share how your lived experiences shape the subconscious beliefs driving your daily thoughts and behaviors. I'll also discuss what to do when you notice unwanted patterns of behavior and how to truly flourish to elevate your potential, expand your impact, and enjoy your life.

I have integrated over 15 years of experience in psychology, social work, and coaching, along with personal healing, life lessons, formal training, and thousands of hours working with clients on their transformations, into my proprietary framework called the Brain Soul Method.

Understanding the Connection

Your mind, body, and soul are all interconnected, operating off of your lived experiences, beliefs, and memories. Memories of anything from your past—attachments, relationships, wins and losses, societal influences, stress, family stories—live within you and show up as patterns of behavior. These patterns can be either wanted or unwanted. Unless you recognize and transform the unwanted patterns, they will persist as long as you allow them to.

I used to refer to a book, "The Body Keeps the Score" by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, which discusses how we store our memories in our bodies. This includes original sights, sounds, pictures, body sensations, and emotions connected to our human experiences. This understanding has been crucial in giving voice to the experiences people have. For instance, the smell of strawberries might take you back to childhood memories, or fireworks could trigger a combat veteran’s PTSD. These reactions illustrate how our past experiences are alive within us.

While it was groundbreaking for its time, much more has been added to the body of evidence about our mind, body soul connection including books by other researchers such as “Getting Past your Past” by Francine Shapiro, and even more recent work by Daniel J. Siegel, Stephen W. Porges, and Dr. Joe Dispenza.

EMDR and the Power of Memory Networks

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is another powerful modality I use with my clients. Created by Francine Shapiro, EMDR helps process stuck emotions, thoughts, traumatic events, and memories. It has evolved to include applications for performance enhancement, focus, and calm.

I bring a wealth of research and information into my practice to help clients shift the beliefs tied to their memories and experiences. This is essential for overcoming unwanted patterns such as burnout for example, and achieving personal transformation.

My Journey: From Burnout to Building a Business

I want to share my personal story of burnout and how I started my business. It’s said if you seek the biggest test and opportunity for self-development, start a business or raise a child (the child journey will come in a future article!)

My journey involved striving for excellence in everything—grades, sports, relationships. I believed that being perfect and making money would command respect and prove my worth However, my career in social work, adjunct faculty roles, and side businesses led me to burnout. I was constantly busy and stressed, which took a toll on my health. Chronic pain, migraines, illness, and exhaustion were signs that my mind, body, and soul were out of alignment.

In 2020, I took a leap of faith to quit my full-time job and go full-time into running and operating my therapy business. Relationships are one of the pillars of the Brain Soul Method, emphasizing the importance of having the right support ( I will expand on this further in the future), and my husband played a crucial role in supporting me in this decision.

Moving into my new therapy office felt liberating. “I made it!” I thought to myself. After a burnout detox (for me it incredibly relaxing to just fold towels and watch all of Dawson’s Creek), I slowly built my clientele. (PS. please make time to detox from previous jobs before you take another as much as you can, especially where you have felt burnout!)

Initially, I charged too little for my services, and my schedule became packed again. I was taking any client that I believed I could support-but that was another ingredient in the recipe for disaster. I started to feel the signs of burnout again-headaches, body tension…I thought “WAIT A MINUTE-NOT AGAIN! HOW!?” So I took a step back, reassessed what was happening, worked on my beliefs, raised my rates and gave myself my time back. Supporting many clients with traumatic experiences, I learned the importance of boundaries and self-care to prevent burnout.

The Brain Soul Method: Envision, Align, Embody

As I guide my clients and offer them ways to look at the world, help them holistically care for themselves, and truly walk their talk, I offer the Brain Soul Method. It’s had a few different iterations, but I share the tools, tips, and foundations that I’ve learned through my many years of experience and have shared with many clients and used in my own personal and professional development.

Envision Your Future

Clarity is the first step. Clearly define where you want to go in your career, relationships, and life. Create a comprehensive vision of your future and legacy, breaking it down into achievable goals.

Using my burnout journey example, I began by taking stock of my situation, and reflecting on my thoughts, emotions, and the patterns I wanted to change. This clarity was essential in understanding the lessons and pivots needed in my journey. With the support of friends, my therapist, my coach, and my own self-work, I identified what I needed to act on and transform. By consistently engaging in internal work, I learned to quickly trace my resistance or avoidance back to subconscious beliefs, enabling the ability to change by cultivating self-awareness.

To use another example, if you're a CEO aiming to expand your company globally, you may start by visualizing the specific countries you want to enter, the partnerships you'll form, and the impact your business will have on those markets. Create a roadmap that includes milestones such as market research, establishing local offices, and launching localized marketing campaigns.

Align Mind, Body, and Soul

Life satisfaction comes from alignment. Aligning your mind involves shifting beliefs to those that serve your higher purpose. Aligning your body means taking care of yourself holistically. Aligning your soul involves connecting with your spiritual practice and intuition.

Once I became clear on my situation, I focused on transforming my thoughts, beliefs, and actions into their ideal versions. For example, while working on the same issue for the second time, I recognized and prevented an unwanted pattern from reoccurring. This involved shifting the underlying belief from "I am not worthy" to "I am worthy." Through daily practice, I ingrained this new belief, resulting in increased confidence, calm, and peace.

I also took care of my body holistically and connected with my spiritual practice, which played a crucial role in aligning my mind, body, and soul. This alignment brought satisfaction and balance to my life, contributing to my overall well-being.

When you connect with your spiritual practice, whether it's through meditation, prayer, or spending time in nature, you can slow down and anchor into yourself. This allows you to quiet the external noise and increase trust in your intuition when making decisions. For instance, if you feel a strong pull towards a particular business opportunity that aligns with your values, follow that instinct. Reflect regularly on how these practices align with your overall vision and values.

Embody Your Values

Live your values, walk your talk, and implement boundaries. Embodiment means integrating all aspects of your being to achieve inner peace and confidence. It’s about believing everything is working out for you and letting go of what isn’t meant for you without guilt.

Living my values involved integrating all aspects of my being to achieve inner peace and confidence. I implemented strong boundaries and let go of what wasn’t meant for me without guilt. This embodiment of values led to unprecedented relief and freedom in my life.

By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire you to gain awareness of where your patterns come from and how to change them. The internal work I’ve done has been the key to my freedom, and I believe it can be for you too.

The main key to transforming your life involves understanding and shifting your subconscious beliefs. The Brain Soul Method helps you envision your future, align your mind, body, and soul, and embody your values.

This method is applicable to making more money, working in your dream career, cultivating ideal relationships, and much more. When you are clear, aligned, and embodying the leader you want to become, you are unstoppable.
